The Centennial Gold Coin series was announced late last year, giving collectors something to look forward to in 2016. The first in that series—the 2016 Centennial Mercury Dime—was available for a short time on April 21st before it quickly became unavailable on the U.S. Mint’s website.
The coin had a mintage limit of 125,000 and a limited household purchase of only 10 coins. It’s .9999 24 kt. gold composition, plus its historical significance, made it a highly desirable coin. The other two coins in the series will also have the same high-quality gold standard, but the release dates for those coins have not yet been published.
The 2016 Centennial Gold Coin series includes the following coins:
- 2016 Centennial Mercury Dime 1/10th gold coin
- 2016 Centennial Standing Liberty Quarter 1/4th gold coin
- 2016 Centennial Walking Liberty Half-Dollar 1/2 oz. gold coin
Stay up-to-date on the U.S. Mint’s release dates so you can get a piece of history. For coins similar to the Centennial Series, check out the Standing Liberty Silver Round or the Walking Liberty Silver Round.
