HISTORY
The American Platinum Eagle coin was first produced in the U.S. in 1997 after being authorized by Congress. Congress also confirmed that the Platinum Eagle is to be considered legal tender within the country, and it is the only platinum coin to be guaranteed by the United States Mint.
