HISTORY
People have been living in the Arches National Park area for hundreds of years; however, prospectors and ranchers of the 1880s were the first to spread the word of the beautiful rock formations that litter the area.
A man named Frank A. Wadleigh took the idea of a national monument to the Park Service, and this naturally beautiful spot soon became known as Arches National Park. It now sees around 1,400,000 visitors every year.
