HISTORY

At the beginning of the 1900s, Louisiana’s forested land was widely used for timber production. However, after a few years, with natural resources running short, conserving the area was needed. President Herbert Hoover’s administration signed the Kisatchie National Forest into existence in 1930 with the goal of preserving the delicate ecosystem.

Ever since then, the Kisatchie National Forest has been protecting Louisiana’s natural landscape and helping it thrive into the modern day.
