Summary: An infographic recently published by Gainesville Coins shows how you can spot 90% silver coins in your everyday change. Although pretty rare, pre-’65 quarters and dimes are still floating around. For example, you can easily spot a silver quarter or dime by looking carefully at the sides of a stack of coins. Ones with a shiny/silver look are likely pre-’65 coins, while ones from after ’65 will have a copper-clad, or brownish appearance. The infographic also includes a handy timeline of when the U.S. Mint discontinued issuing 90% silver coins.
