However, new up-and-coming technology in memory storage relies heavily on silver. Known as Resistive Random Access Memory, or ReRAM, silver acts as a tiny battery cell. According to an interview with the Silver Institute, the “presence or absence of an electrical charge can be used to store bits of information.” ReRAM’s real benefit comes in how much power it uses – for example, it can possibly make a smartphone to operate for a week without recharging.
